Baldwin County Healthcare

Baldwin County is home to three hospitals, numerous hospice facilities, and a premier lifestyle health center.

Thomas Hospital serves the healthcare needs of the Eastern Shore and surrounding communities in Baldwin County. With consistently high patient satisfaction rates and an award-winning cardiac program, our staff offers outstanding medical service and compassionate care.

Boasting an award-winning, 129-bed, acute-care hospital. An affiliate of Infirmary Health System, we employ more than 1,100 people, have more than 200 physicians and utilize the services of some 500 Auxiliary volunteers.

With a full range of service lines including a state-of-the-art birth center, radiology, endoscopy, inpatient and outpatient surgery facilities, and a cardiac program that places it as a Thomson Reuters "Top 100 Cardiovascular Hospital" four consecutive years, we deliver the highest quality healthcare to you – our friends, families and neighbors in Baldwin County.

An 80,000 square foot outpatient surgery and diagnostic facility that offers CT scan, x-ray, mammography, ultrasound, bone density tests, EKG, stress tests, lab and open MRI.  The facility also has physician offices and a community education center.  Surgeries performed at Thomas Medical Center range from orthopedic surgery and plastic surgery to cataract surgery and gynecological surgery.

This membership based health and fitness center, which is located in the Thomas Hospital Wellness Center, offers adult fitness programs, personal training, a pool/whirlpool, and special aquatic exercise programs.

Pediatric and adult physical, occupational and speech therapies, home health therapies, and cardiopulmonary rehabilitation.

The hospital is also opening the Alabama Gulf Coast Imaging Center in Gulf Shores which will feature an open MRI unit, as well as, provide mammography services, diagnostic x-rays and bone density scans.

North Baldwin Infirmary

North Baldwin Infirmary is a 55-bed community-based facility that includes surgical, obstetric, outpatient diagnostic, radiology, emergency, pharmacy and laboratory departments. The NBI campus also includes a 75-bed skilled nursing home facility and a 31,000 square foot wellness center.

The new 92,000-square-foot facility offers the most advanced diagnostic capabilities in the region including a 1.5 Tesla MRI, a 16-slice CT imaging system, 3D CT reconstruction, a filmless, paperless picture archiving and communication system (PACS), a digital mammography suite and nuclear medicine.

The new facility is also home to three modern surgical suites, five-bed intensive care unit and 25 medical/surgical beds. The obstetrics department offers five full-service LDRP suites, some of the largest in the area, and a C-section suite.

31,000 square foot facility which has an indoor track, racquetball courts, indoor pool and whirlpool, and weights.  A cardiovascular rehabilitation center will be added in the future.

Oakwood is a skilled nursing facility that does long-term nursing home placement and short-term rehab.  Oakwood specializes in Alzheimer’s and dementia.

Mercy Medical

The 162-bed facility in Daphne offers hospice care, assistant living and rehabilitation.  Mercy Medical recently opened the John McClure Snook Regional Center, an Alzheimer’s facility.  The Center provides services for dementia patients.
