Workplace Education Tax Credits

In 1993 the Alabama Workplace Education Tax Credit program was passed by the legislature. This program allows employers to take a direct credit on Alabama state income tax for expenses incurred in providing basic skills education programs to employees. This is a tax credit of 20% of the actual program costs for an employer, which provides or sponsors an education program that embraces basic skills of employees up to and including 12th grade. The program is coordinated through the Alabama Department of Education.
