A spokeswoman with the European Aeronautic Defense and Space Co. said
Thursday that it is relocating one division of its North American operations
to Mobile, not its entire North American enterprise.
Mobile Regional Airport will soon be home to EADS CASA North America, one
of 11 divisions within the larger EADS North America, said spokeswoman Diane
Murphy.
The division's 10 employees will move from Chantilly, Va., offices to
Mobile. Construction of 5,000 square feet of office space and 8,000 square
feet of warehouse space is expected to begin later this month. The support
and service center is a $1 million investment for EADS.
EADS North America, based in Washington, is the North American holding
company for EADS, the second-largest aerospace and defense company in the
world. Boeing Co. holds the top spot.
