Gulf Coast Industrial Services Supply Company to build new facility in Foley Create new jobs

Baldwin County Economic Development Alliance

January 18, 2005

Foley, Ala. - Gulf Coast Industrial Service and Supply (GCIS) will build a new 13,000-square-foot distribution facility on 1.5 acres at Barin Field in Foley. With an approximate capital investment of $400,000, GCIS plans to add eight new employees to the local area over the next three years. Foley Mayor Tim Russell, GCIS President Tom Clarke, Foley IDB Chairman J.M. Lee, BCEDA President Lance LaCour, and South Baldwin Chamber President Donna Watts were each present to make the joint announcement Tuesday.

Founded in 1994, GCIS distributes safety products, industrial, maintenance, and contractor supplies to municipalities, manufacturing facilities, contractors, and local industrial customers. Additionally, the company designs, assembles and ships belt drive systems throughout the United States.

In appreciation of GCIS’s confidence in choosing to expand in Foley, Mayor Russell said that the "city is looking forward to assisting the company in any way we can to help make the growth transition as smooth as possible."

BCEDA President Lance LaCour noted that the company provides good wages and benefits. Employees interested in job opportunities in the future should contact Steve Wooley at the State Employment Service in Foley:

Clarke credited Mayor Russell, the City Council, the Industrial Development Board, the Baldwin County Economic Development Alliance, and the South Baldwin Chamber of Commerce for their assistance in site selection at Barin Field, which helped solidify the decision to expand in Foley.
