Alliance CEO to Take Job in Katy, Texas

Contacts:

Larry Merrihew, Chairman: 690-1594

Lance LaCour, President & CEO: 947-2445

Robertsdale, AL – Baldwin County Economic Development Alliance Chairman Larry Merrihew announced today that Lance LaCour, President & CEO, has been offered and accepted the President & CEO position with the Katy, Texas Area Economic Development Council, which is located in the Houston area. LaCour, who has led the Alliance for over nine and one-half years, tendered his resignation yesterday at the Alliance regular Board Meeting. LaCour will start the new position on October 1st with his last day at the Alliance being September 28th.

“Leaving the Alliance was not an easy decision. My nine and one-half years with the Alliance have been both professionally and personally rewarding, as Michelle and I have established our family here, with our daughter Alexa and son Emery. The Katy opportunity best suits my professional and personal goals, one of which is to be located close to my father and sister who live in the Houston Area.”

The Katy area is based geographically around the Katy Independent School District, which includes about 178 square miles and three counties located on I-10. Current population is about 170,000 with annual growth rates of six percent.

“We hate to lose Lance and his family,” noted Chairman Merrihew. “Lance led our efforts to exceptional success and truly unified Baldwin County to reach new heights. We will miss him, but we understand that family comes first and we wish him only the best.”

LaCour expressed his appreciation to the Alliance Board, County Commission, Cities, Chambers of Commerce, Industrial Development Boards, Alabama Development Office and the people of Baldwin County for their generosity, friendship and counsel. He noted that the Alliance has an exceptional, talented and productive staff that will continue the work to be successful. He also pledged to help make the transition as smooth as possible and deliver quality work until his last day.

Merrihew noted that Bob Higgins, Vice President, will serve as Interim CEO after September 28th and that the Board is forming a search committee to move quickly to find a new, qualified President & CEO.
