PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

H K Motors continues to make progress in its quest to build hybrid automobiles in Baldwin County.

In April, we attended meetings in Washington, DC, with H K executives and senior officials of the American Public Gas Association, Natural Gas Vehicles of America, America’s Natural Gas Alliance, and North Baldwin Utilities.  The meetings were very productive and could yield great benefits to the project.  Additional meetings between HK Motors, state and local economic development officials are scheduled for late April.  Each meeting moves us closer to making the project a reality.

Our April 22, 2010, Investors Reception is shaping up to be a special one.  Stewart Lodge at Steelwood is both our host and our sponsor.  They have an incredible event planned, starting at 4:00 pm.  Around 5:00 pm we will have a short program featuring two economic development consultants, Erin Henderson of the Aetos Group and Jennifer Tanner of Janus Economics.  The food, fellowship and program will all be outstanding so please plan to attend, “and please rsvp as steelwood is a private, gated community”.

To RSVP, email kdavis@stewartsteelwood.com or call the Stewart Lodges office at 251-602-1300.

Thanks for your support and friendship.

Robert Ingram

SUCCESS AT THE BALDWIN COUNTY JOB FAIR

The Alabama Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce, Central Baldwin Chamber of Commerce, Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce, North Baldwin Chamber of Commerce, South Baldwin Chamber of Commerce and the Baldwin County Economic Development Alliance hosted its annual Job Fair on Friday, April 9th at the Baldwin County Coliseum in Robertsdale. It was a rousing success. We had 39 employers on site and 819 registered job seekers. The event was covered on all local television channels, all local newspaper medias, many local radio stations, chamber news releases, and online. It is evident to us that we do indeed have the work force available to make Baldwin County a great place to work or start a business!

A VERY SPECIAL THANK YOU TO ALL OF OUR VOLUNTEERS WHO MADE THE EVENT RUN SO SMOOTHLY... WITH OUT YOU IT WOULD NOT BE POSSIBLE!

SAWDC NAMES NEW DIRECTOR: LAURA DAVIS CHANDLER

Laura Davis Chandler will serve as the new Executive Director for the Southwest Alabama Workforce Development Council Region 9 Inc.
